Since I have healed my pain and illnesses I am spending A LOT of time on the computer. Blogging, researching, learning, studying and meeting people. The best thing about this whole experience has been the people I have met.
I must admit when I started I had a very "Doom and Gloom" feel about the future of our world. I watched WAY too much news, I was caught up in the "wow -- isn't that horrible" daily assessment of the way things are going. I still stay up on the news but I don't let myself be consumed by it. I also have found some pretty amazing places to talk about things going on in the world where people have hope and are actively BECOMING and INITIALIZING the change they want to see in the world. I'd like to recommend a few that I have found to be truly wonderful and that have enabled me to meet GREAT people doing incredible things.
Zaadz -- Zaadz the short version is it is conscious social networking platform. To find what the founders think about why they started Zaadz. This page says it all. It takes a couple of days to get signed up as they do check out your profile to see why you are interested and to keep spammers out. It is really a wonderful community of people. I HIGHLY recommend joining.
Personal Development Partners -- Founded by Aaron Potts this is a wonderful platform for those who want to improve parts of their lives and help others to do the same. Sign up, check out the wonderful forums, figure out your goals, find ways that you can contribute and help people and grab a partner that might be able to help you as well. Lots of truly WONDERFUL people who all want to live to their full potential and help the world be a better place. Has links to wonderful blogs written by the leaders in blogging in the self help/personal development front. What an inspirational place!
Rethos -- They call themselves a platform for change. People passionate about all areas of bettering the world. Tons of articles, blogs and opportunities to make a difference. A new social networking site but it is on its way. Very worth checking out and signing up.
Care2 -- A site with over 7 million members. They have lots of petitions to sign and lots of ways to get involved to make a difference. Tons of groups of people with passions in different areas of bettering the world. A great place to take action and meet similarly minded people in whatever your passion may be.
Those are my top 4 (not in any order) but there are others and I think there will be plenty more coming out. Social networking is taking on a different face. I am loving being a part of these communities of people that want better for themselves, the world and all the people in it and are aware enough to BE THE CHANGE they want to see in the world.

Hey Jenny,
Synchronicity must be at work here. I have been having a bit of an emotional crisis lately about the overwhelming ills of the world. Here you are with words of advice and actual useful suggestions just when I needed that. Glad to make your acquaintance.
Peace,
Laurie
You are VERY welcome Laurie. It is so easy to get sucked in by the bad news and to feel badly about it but in truth that doesn't really help anything. The networking sites I mentioned are filled with people who do care and are aware and choose to do something. It is really inspiring to be around people like that! AND they offer lots of ways to help and BE the change you want to see in the world! Doesn't get any better than that! A pleasure to meet you -- feel free to add me as a friend if you join any of the sites. Jenny
